“If Bri Cole can remain healthy, she should look to be one of the top catchers in the EPC. She has one of the strongest and most accurate arms I’ve seen in awhile. She is a key to our pitching and catching duo as we have pitchers who are all new to Varsity level this year. ”
Julia Heineman (SS)
“Heineman will be our leader in the infield with her experience and the calmness she brings to intense situations. I’m expecting to see Heineman emerge as more of an overall team leader this year. She’s a kid who leads by example and has a lot of respect from her teammates. She has a natural ability to be a leader whether she’s in a game or off the field. She earned the coaches respect when she came out to the Coca Cola park tournament (during covid) as a freshman when junior starting SS Corrin Gill was not able to attend. Heineman (sophomore) ended up beating Gill out at SS her senior year and Gill moved to 2B.”
Madison Glick (2B)
“Madison Glick, only a sophomore, is an integral part of our middle infield. She’s a talented player who is also a big part of our offensive line up hitting near the top of the order. With her at 2B, it’s like having 2 short stops (Glick plays SS in travel softball). She stepped in to start the second half of our Varsity season last year and was a big part of our league championship team.”
Natalie Stannard (OF)
“Stannard will be the only returning starting senior in the line up. We will need to rely on her leadership in the outfield. ”
Key Newcomers:
Kaitlin McDevitt
Kate Miller
Julia Griffith
Alexis Acevedo
Maddie Cooper
Taylor Pavolko
2022 Outlook: “We have to rebuild our pitching staff this year with some underclassmen. We lost a lot of seniors last season (10) who made a big impact in our program winning our school’s first league title in history. We are continuing our tradition of pride and hard work that has been instilled in our players and program here at Freedom.”
