2020-21 Boys Tennis Preview: Allentown Central Catholic HS

Head Coach: Jared Smith (my first year as head coach)

Assistant Coaches: Charlie Carbonetto

Team Name: Allentown Central Catholic High School

Sport: Tennis (B)

League: EPC

2019 Record:

Key Players Lost: No 2 and 3 singles players graduated, Teddy Zeller and Ben Carbonetto. Lost two key doubles player who graduated as well in Corey Long and Stephen McGlynn.

Key Returning Players: No 1 singles Dylan Alvarez (senior), No 2 singles Jessie Coulter (injured last year/senior), juniors Charlie Long, Jake Zeller, Will McGlynn, and Enzo Fantozzi (all doubles players this year).

Key Newcomers: No 3 singles Tim Spinosa (freshman), doubles players Alessio Flores, Matt Hetten and Dan Wheeler (all seniors who came out last year in the cancelled season). Four more underclassman who probably won’t start this year but have made the varsity squad and have great potential to build the future on – Victor Manzella (sophmore), Alex de Gale (sophmore), Mack Zeller (freshman) and Henry Long (freshman).

Outlook: We are excited to get started. While we lost some key players to graduating, I feel we have a great mixture of returning veterans and younger players full of potential. I expect us to compete hard and earn a spot in the District 11 2A playoffs.

We got off to a good first week of practice, but overall hard to judge where we stand amongst the competition after losing last season until match play begins.
