Intern Spotlight: Ava Rosario, Northern Lehigh High School

Name: Ava Rosario

School: Northern Lehigh High School

College choice: Lehigh Carbon Community College

Major: Visual Media

What is your favorite food: Sushi

What is your favorite movie: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

What is your favorite book: The Kite Runner

What is a favorite High School moment(s): Finding out that I would be Editor in Chief of our school newspaper was my favorite high school moment. I also loved being a part of the Northern Lehigh Theater Troupe Art Crew; attending the Freddy Awards is something I will never forget.

Hobbies, School Activities and Accomplishments: Throughout high school, I have participated in The Slate newspaper, choir, Aevidum, NLTT Crew & Ensemble, and National Honor Society. I received 1st place in the Women’s Club of Slatington’s 2018 Arts Contest for 10-12th Grade Photography; 2nd place in the 2020 Keystone Press Awards for Layout and Design; and the Women’s Club of Slatington’s Girl of the Month November 2019. I love watching SNL and movies, music, and fashion.

What is a favorite moment(s) about your internship: My favorite moment was being a sideline reporter. I went in without knowing that I would be on a live broadcast, terrified out of my mind. I learned a lot from that night. Of course, I wasn’t perfect, no reporter is during their first broadcast, but I left that opportunity feeling confident. I later went to give a speech for the Women’s Club of Slatington in November, and I know that the sideline reporting helped me achieve that.

Thoughts of St. Luke’s partnership with D 11Sports.com: Joining the D11Sports.com team was one of the best decisions I ever made. I did things I never thought I could and learned so much along the way. Being up-close with the action and other reporters will always stick with me. I got to meet so many people, and Al and Dave truly are tremendous mentors. It’s an invaluable experience.

Plans after college: After college, I plan to enter the film/video industry or a career in digital design. I would love to work for a production company or a magazine. Aside from my career, I hope to foster and possibly adopt children in need of a loving parental figure. My biggest goal is to create a program that provides children transitioning out of unfortunate situations with creative and artistic outlets.
