Easton advances with a wild win over Northamtpon

Al Erdosy Stadium at Northampton High School was the site on Friday night for a quarterfinal round matchup in the District XI 6A Football playoffs. Easton squeaked past the K-Kids 42-37 as they stopped Northampton’s potential game winning drive in the final seconds on a sack by Gio Raso.

Nahjee Adams was unstoppable scoring six touchdowns(1,6,3,4,5,6) en route to 130 yards on the ground to lead the Red Rovers. The six scores tied a school record. But despite his efforts, Northampton was right in the mix for the down to the wire finish.

Down 28-17, Joe Kerbacher scrambled to find Josh Gaycheck for a 24 yard touchdown to close the gap to 28-24 at the half. A 61 yard flea flicker to Jared Russell gave Northampton a 31-28 lead in the third.

But Adams would tack on two second half scores and Easton would pull out the win. Next up for the Red Rovers will be top seed Nazareth in the District XI 6A semifinals. For Northampton, they fall to 9-2, an await to play Catasauqua on Thanksgiving morning.
