Emmaus hosted the Dieruff Huskies at EPSD Stadium Thursday night for a week two matchup. Emmaus felt very confident coming into the game, as they picked up a win in week one over Allen 58-0.
Emmaus started on defense and immediately got momentum from forcing a turnover, and it only took the Hornet offense two plays to make it 7-0. Jake Fotta connected with Jameel Sanders and got the Hornets rolling. Dieruff’s offense couldn’t find any success in the first quarter, however Emmaus’ offense was on fire. Camire continued his hot start to the season as he ran for a 65 yard TD. Later on in the quarter, Fotta continued to impress as he connected with Jaiden Robinson for a TD and it was 21-0. Explosive running back Brandon Camire found the endzone for a second time and made it 28-0 Emmaus at the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter Fotta was able to throw his third TD pass of the half as he connected with Gabe Trexler for a seven-yard TD. The score was 35-0 Emmaus, but their offense wasn’t done yet. Brandon Camire, who had a first half hat trick last week, also got one this week, as he scored from the three-yard line to make it 42-0 Emmaus. Emmaus would have another possession before the halftime break and Brandon Camire scored yet again! He took the carry 36 yards to the house. He had four touchdowns in the first half and Emmaus had a 49-0 lead at the break.
Emmaus was also able to show off their depth at the running back position in the second half as sophomore running back Tylik Jarvis scored a 34-yard touchdown run to make it 56-0 Hornets. Jarvis would continue to have success in the fourth quarter as he punched in his second touchdown of the night and third for the season. The final score was 63-0 Emmaus. Emmaus’ rushing attack proved to be their key to success for the second straight week.
Emmaus will take their 2-0 record into J. Birney Crum Stadium next Saturday 10/17 to take on the Vikings of Allentown Central Catholic.
