The Lehighton Indians welcomed the Northern Lehigh Bulldogs for a Boys Varsity Basketball matchup in their final home game of the season. Lehighton entered the game with a 10-8 record, while Northern Lehigh entered the game with a record of 5-5.
Lehighton was able to pull away from Northern Lehigh in the first quarter with Carter Strauss scoring nine points along with an additional six by Dylan Guyn and Richie Yturrino. Lehighton led Northern Lehigh 21-7 at the end of the first quarter.
The Indians used this momentum to keep their lead going into halftime over Northern Lehigh by a score of 30-16. Lehighton extended their lead in the third quarter by 20 points only allowing six points by Northern Lehigh. The Indians went into the fourth quarter with a 42-22 lead over the Bulldogs. It was once again the defense for Lehighton only allowing four points in the fourth quarter that secured them the win 54-26 over Northern Lehigh.
Lehighton’s top scorers were Yturrino with 12 points along with ten points from Guyn, the D11Sports Player of the Game. Northern Lehigh’s top scorers were Jaden Marlatt with eight points and Mike Repsher with seven points.
Lehighton improves to 11-8 on the season, while Northern Lehigh falls to 5-6. Lehighton’s next game is Friday, February 26th at 7:00PM as they travel to Whitehall for their final game of the regular season against the Zephyrs. Northern Lehigh’s next game is Saturday, February 27th at 10:00AM as they travel to Panther Valley to take on the Panthers for their final regular season game.
