The North Schuylkill Spartans faced off against the Tamaqua Blue Raiders in a District XI 3A Semifinal game on 11/7. Known for their high-powered offense, North Schuylkill did not disappoint. Jake Hall and Josh Chowansky were huge players for the Spartan offense. Key defensive players included Luis Serrato and Kody Schell.
During the first play of the game, Kody Schell forced a Blue Raider fumble that was recovered by Dylan Dietz for the Spartans. Quarterback Jake Hall scored first for the Spartans with a rushing touchdown with 10:56 to play in the first quarter. Running back Josh Chowansky added another North Schuylkill score. To top off the first quarter, Hall connected with Joey Flail to give the Spartans a 21-0 lead over Tamaqua.
Hall added his second rushing touchdown of the night to start the second quarter for North Schuylkill. Tamaqua answered back with a touchdown from Nate Wickersham, but Hall connected with Tanner Walacavage for another North Schuylkill touchdown immediately after. At the half, North Schuylkill had a 35-7 lead over the Blue Raiders.
To start off the second half, Hall added his third rushing score to put the Spartans up 42-7. For Tamaqua, Wickersham added his second TD of the night. To end the third, Chowansky added his second rushing touchdown of the night. The Spartans led Tamaqua 49-14 after three.
To top off a stellar game, Hall added his fourth rushing touchdown of the night for the Spartans offense. Nate Curvey scored another touchdown for Tamaqua with 5:34 left in the fourth. The rest of the game went scoreless.
North Schuylkill defeated Tamaqua 56-21 in the District XI 3A Semifinals. Jake Hall rushed for four touchdowns and threw two, one to Flail and one to Walacavage. Josh Chowansky added two rushing touchdowns, with 253 yards over 16 carries. On the defensive side of things, Luis Serrato had two interceptions. Dylan Dietz recovered the fumble that was forced by Kody Schell.
While Tamaqua’s season comes to an end, North Schuylkill advances to the District XI 3A Championship next week. They will take on the Notre Dame GP Crusaders at Northwestern Lehigh on 11/14. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM. Both teams come into the championship game undefeated.
