Phillipsburg XC Puts up Strong Performance at HWS

The Stateliners ran a strong race on all fronts at the Hunterdon-Warren-Sussex meet that took place on their home course. Their course is infamous for its devious hills and rugged terrain. Phillipsburg was able to assert itself early on and keep up with well-reputed schools such as North Hunterdon and Ridge.

Coming off a rather weak performance against Easton, P’burg had something to prove going into the meet. Right off the bat, Senior James Day and Junior Andrew Heckman set the tone of the race, pushing out to the front, soon followed by Jacob Miller (Senior), Gavin Hawk (Junior), Ryan Greenen (Senior), Rory Packer (Sophomore) and Jacobi Pepingco (Freshmen). The final results for the boys race had Andrew Heckman coming in fourth, James Day coming in 19th, and Jacob Miller at 24th. On the girls’ team, Brooke Hunter (Junior) was able to get all the way up to second place, beating out North Hunterdon’s Addie Schmidt (Senior) in the final ten yards. The boys’ team came in fourth overall, while the girls’ team came in third overall.
