Revenge is Sweet for Blue Eagles

After two losses last season to the Emmaus Green Hornets, the 36-24 win on Friday night for the Blue Eagles was twice as sweet. Nazareth lost to Emmaus in week two of last season after an overtime touchdown that Nazareth fans wanted called back, as well as in the first round of the district playoffs. However, at EPSD Stadium on Friday, the night was all about the Blue Eagles.

Nazareth showed their ability to pound the rock with multiple running backs, and of course, their elusive quarterback Anthony Harris. Though the Nazareth offense moved the ball well, it was Nazareth’s defense led by Nate Stefanik that put the game on ice. To go along with his TD reception, Stefanik came down with three interceptions and returned one of them for a touchdown. This was his second straight game with a pick-six and Stefanik has a total of five interceptions in two games.

Nazareth will play at home next week against Allentown Central Catholic, who they lost to 23-13 last season. Nazareth looks to get revenge for the second straight week, and their stellar defense just might be the key to victory next week and throughout the rest of the season.
