Saucon Valley blows past the Falcons 31-14

The Saucon Valley Panthers hosted the Salisbury Falcons Friday night at 7pm. The first two drives of the game were slow, both resulting in punts. But Tyler Pfizenmayer made it exciting with a blocked punt to set up the Panthers in a great position to score. This led to a Dante Mahaffey rushing touchdown and a Jacob Christopher extra point, which made it 7-0 with 7:14 left in the first quarter. The first quarter ended with the Panthers leading 7-0.

Early in the second quarter, Mahaffey threw to Eternal Aris to extend the Panther lead, and Christopher made it 14-0. At halftime Salisbury was trailing 14-0.

To open the half, Salisbury got on the board with 9:51 left in the third to make it 14-7. Damian Garcia ran 14-yards for the TD with 5:31 left in the third to make the score 21-7. The Panthers weren’t done yet, Mahaffey threw to Alex Magnotta with 1:07 left in the third, making it 28-7 with Christopher’s extra point being good.

The fourth quarter was slow until Salisbury scored with 5:48 left in the fourth, making it 28-14. The Panthers didn’t want to end there so they tacked on three with a 32-yd field goal by Christopher with 17 seconds left, ending the game with a Panther victory 31-14. The Panthers are now 1-1 and the Falcons are now 0-2.

Next Friday, Saucon Valley plays at Pottsville @ 7pm.
