“He can be a difference maker. Has to be reliable and available all season. Had a great season on the mound last year. Must prove to be a good leader. Has it in him.”
Landon Bealer – Jr. IF/P
“Had a breakout year last year playing alongside his brother. Need him engaged all year and ready to compete. Can get around the bases with the top players in the league. Exciting athlete.”
Christian Pickell – Sr. OF
“Should help us tremendously in the lineup this year. Had the tools to be a really good hs player, but needs to be more consistent in all phases of the game. Has some pop and can run. Will help pressure defenses.”
Michael Andrews – Sr. CF
“Solidifies an outfield that has plenty of question marks. Tracks balls with the best of them. Needs to be consistent offensively understanding his strengths. Can run and pressure defenses as well.”
Key Newcomers:
Luke Lea – Jr. P
“Probably the ‘X’ factor in our season. It will be his responsibility to pick up most of Yaindl’s wins and innings lost to graduation. Has the arm to do it for sure. Has a tremendous upside that we need to see on display this year.”
Janssen Brown – So. P/IF
“Composure is an asset. Just gets the job done. Isn’t pretty doing it but it works and we’ll need him to be versatile in an infield with all pitchers. Will ask him to play multiple positions and log innings on the mound.”
Paddy Laughlin – Sr . OF
“The time has come for Paddy. Watched this talented hockey player improve over the last 3 years. He will get his chance this season. Needs to understand his strengths and work within them. Can also run and put pressure on the defense.”
Jack Massey – Jr. P/IF
“Has all the tools to be a really good hs hitter. Needs to carry confidence into the batter’s box. He can prove his worth with a quality showing this season.”
Avery Koser – Jr. P/Utility
“Very versatile. Dropped him down on the mound this year in hopes he can take over a closer type role. Can play the IF and OF and will be necessary with all the movement of positions as we change pitchers.”
2022 Outlook: “We have a pretty solid nucleus of guys that competed last year and made a run into the state tournament. We need to do what we do best and stay within the framework of how we play here at Southern Lehigh. If we do that early, I feel like we will continue to gel as a team. Getting help from the unknowns obviously is key to success.”
