The Spartans take home District Gold

A year ago, the Southern Lehigh Spartans fell to Blue Mountain in the District Championship 1-0 in double overtime. But on Tuesday night, Southern Lehigh raised the trophy as they captured the District XI 3A Girls Soccer Championship.

The only goal of the game came with 17:21 left in the second half on a direct kick off the foot of Lexi Stevens. She found the back left corner of the net and celebrated with her teammates, as the Spartans won their first District Title since the 2015 season.

Southern Lehigh improves to 15-5-2 on the year with Pottsville falling to 17-4-1 on the season. The win was also the Spartans 300th in their program history.

It now on to States with PIAA action getting underway next week.
