The Nazareth Blue Eagle football team is bringing home league hardware for the first time since 2011. They won the LVC championship. As per usual, Nate Stefanik led the Nazareth offense to a 37-13 win against Easton on Friday night, with an impressive four touchdowns, three of which were rushing and one receiving. His 33-yard reception was thrown by Anthony Harris who has had a whirlwind of a month, as he received an offer from the University of Maine and surpassed 7,000 career passing yards.
We know we sound like a broken record, but we have to say it again. The Blue Eagle defense stepped up…big time. They only allowed Easton in the endzone twice and held superstar running back, Nahjee Adams, to only 77 rushing yards. Two of the biggest plays of the game came defensively for Nazareth. At 17-7, Jake Wilson had a huge fourth-down sack, which was the turning point of the game. In the fourth quarter, Nazareth pinned Easton inside of their own 15, Braden Mehlig forced the ball out of QB Cole Transue’s hands. Jack McKenna picked it up for a touchdown to make the score 30-7.
In the first round of the district playoffs, No. 1 Nazareth hosts No. 8 Pocono Mountain West. Nazareth looks to continue their defensive dominance. Their offense hopes to keep opposing defenses guessing as they enter the grueling test that is the District XI playoff.
