Emmaus Gets Signature Win Of The Season Over Bethlehem Catholic

The Bethlehem Catholic Golden Hawks came into EPSD Stadium fresh off of a win against Easton last week. Emmaus came in on a two game losing streak, looked to snap it and win on senior night.

In the first quarter, Beca got off to a really good start scoring a touchdown on their opening drive to make it 7-0. They would then force a fumble on Emmaus’ opening drive. Beca couldn’t find the end zone on their second drive, but they would add a field goal to make it10-0 after the first quarter.

Emmaus got the ball back in the second quarter, drove to the one-yard line, but Jake Moyer was intercepted. Beca turned that interception into a field goal, which made it 13-0 Beca who was now leading and looking to take over.

Emmaus made a QB change, replacing Jake Moyer with freshman Jake Fotta.  Fotta, looked to impress in his first career varsity minutes. Fotta was able to find Adam Heiserman for a gain of 22 to set the Hornets up inside the 20 late in the second quarter. On the last play of the half ,Fotta took the snap, avoided two sacks and found Chad Newhard for the Emmaus TD.  The score was 13-7 Beca at the half.

Emmaus got the second half kickoff. Brandon Camire took control, eventually finishing the second half opening drive off with a 26-yard TD. The point after was no good so it was all tied up 13-13 after three quarters of play.

In the fourth, Emmaus’ defense continued their second half shutout, which gave the ball back to Jake Fotta and the Hornets offense. Fotta started to run the run/pass option and had a lot of success with it. They moved the ball to the 29 yard line. On the next play, Brandon Camire found the end zone, making it 20-13 with Emmaus leading.

Beca’s offense still couldn’t get going, Tavion Banks fumbled and gave the ball back to Emmaus. Emmaus moved the ball with Fotta as he found Johnny Ferris for a 20-yard gain. On the next play, Camire went to his favorite place, the end zone, making the score 27-13 Emmaus with 2:45 left. Camire’s last touchdown run put him over 2,000 career rushing yards at Emmaus and he is only a junior.

Emmaus was able to get their signature win of the season defeating Beca 27-13 to improve to 5-4 on the season. For Beca they drop to 6-3 and will play at Allentown Central Catholic next Friday. For Emmaus they will travel to rival Parkland and look to win the battle of Cedar Crest Blvd for the second straight season.
