NAZARETH – Logan Edmond passed for over 260 yards and three touchdowns leading the Red Team (Carbon, Lehigh and Monroe County) to a 28-14 win at Nazareth’s Andrew Leh Stadium Thursday Night.
The Red Team jumped out early. It looked like East Stroudsburg South’s Ryan Clark was going in for the first score of the night, but the ball popped out. Parkland’s Michael Bennett fell on the ball in the end zone for a touchdown. They made it 14-0 on touchdown pass from Edmond to Stroudsburg’s Benny Pembleton for 38-yards with 11:16 remaining the the first half.
The Gold Team looked for a spark and found it with Notre Dame Green Pond’s receiver David Sanders. Sanders caught a pair of 50 yard touchdown passes. The first one was a 52-yard touchdown pass from Phillipsburg’s Jack Stagaard. Bethlehem Catholic’s Zamar Brake hit Sanders for a 59-yard bomb with 5:23 remaining in the first half. The game was tied at 14.
The Red Team pulled away in the second half scoring a touchdown each quarter. Edmond hit Whitehall’s Joe Herman for a 54-yard pass with 9:22 left in the third quarter. He finished the night off scrambling around before he found William Allen’s Jaunte Williams open for a four-yard touchdown pass with 3:51 remaining in the game.
It was a big night for Red Team Head Coach Matt Walters. Going into the 2019 season, Walters was named new head football coach at East Stroudsburg South replacing Ed Christian. Walters got his first win as a head coach Thursday night.
