The streak continues as the Emmaus Green Hornets strike gold again

Sue Butz Stavin is in her 44th year as the Head Coach of the Emmaus Green Hornets and on Wednesday night, her team brought home another title. The Green Hornets came out fast and furious against the third seeded Easton Red Rovers, en route to a 4-1 win at Whitehall’s Zephyr Sports Complex. For the legendary coach it is also career win number 969 to go along with just 81 losses and 35 ties.

Emmaus, not only improved to 24-0 on the season, but also captured their 31st straight District XI Championship. The Green Hornets wasted no time scoring their first goal, as Rachel Herbine found the back of the net just three minutes into the game. It was the 51st goal of the season for the freshman sensation.

Five minutes later, Annika Herbine fed Kaitlyn Csensits for a goal followed by a goal by Madison Bruns less than two minutes later.It was 3-0 Emmaus less than ten minutes into the game.

Easton would answer with a penalty stroke from senior Olivia Watson with 9:07 left in the first half. The Green Hornets, however, would quickly counter with Annika Herbine scoring less than a minute later to make it 4-1 at the half.

There was no scoring in the second half and Emmaus would celebrate once again. Emmaus, who last year finished 26-1, are back in the PIAA Tournament looking to win their 13th state title. Easton, meanwhile, will take their 19-4 record into the state tournament which gets underway next week.
