Southern Lehigh ends Central Catholic’s reign and captures Championship

It was the Colonial League versus the East Penn Conference on Thursday night, with the District XI 3A Volleyball Championship up for grabs. Southern Lehigh came into the match as the top seed but they had to battle the number three seed and four-time defending champions, Central Catholic.

This was a battle from start to finish but this year it was the Spartans that took home the hardware, as Southern Lehigh beat Central Catholic to win the District XI 3A Volleyball Championship. It didn’t come easy for the Spartans, who went down two sets to one but battled all the way back to win set four and in the process sending the title match to a 5th and deciding set.

Southern Lehigh, who have been in this position in years past but would see the Vikettes go home with the title, changed things this year. They win the Championship 13-25, 25-18,17-25, 25-19, 15-12.

Next up is the upcoming PIAA tournament which gets underway next week.
